The Knoxville Basketball Squads came away with two wins over Davis County on Friday night heard live on kniakrls.com KRLS3. The girls after a slow start pulled away in the 2nd half to post a 63-49 win over the Mustangs. Knoxville trailed by as much as ten points in the 2nd quarter but closed on a 13-2 run to forge ahead by three at the halftime break. Knoxville locked down Davis County in the 2nd half, outscoring the Mustangs 37-26. Brittany Bacorn scored 22 points to lead all scorers while Hannah Dunkin put in 17 and Abbie Keitges scored 12. The boys, for the second straight Friday, routed their opponent and had running clock for almost all of the 2nd half in a 78-22 win. Knoxville stormed out of the gates to a 10-0 lead and never looked in the rear view mirror. The Panthers got balanced scoring with Landen Norris scoring 15 points, 12 from Jay Kellar, and ten each from Koby Higginbotham and Lincoln Norris. Coach Troy Pearson addressed the scoring balance, and told KNIA/KRLS Sports his team is playing very unselfish.
Pearson: “Our team does a great job of it, not a good job, a great job. Our society says you have to worry about yourself and we’re moving into that spot where we are sharing the ball all of the time,”
Knoxville only turned the ball over six times while forcing 22 from Davis County. The girls are 3-2 on the season and 3-0 in the South Central Conference while the boys are 3-1 and 2-1 in conference play. Both Panther teams will be at home Tuesday against Chariton.
