An all-inclusive playground will soon enter the next phase of improvements. Fred Kreykes and Mark Wiskus with Wonder Spelen say the non-profit organization is again planning to partner with the City of Pella for additions to the facility at Kiwanis Park.

Both say work is underway to secure an engineer for the next round of bids, with several new features under consideration.

“What we did is we went back to the advisory committee that we had put together five years ago; the teachers and parents who have special needs children, and we asked them because we don’t always know, but they came up with some good ideas. We’re going to work with the same provider that we worked for the equipment that’s there now, and our committee chose some additional pieces of equipment: some shade structures, a buddy bench and more poured in place surface, so that that’s what this next phase will consist of,” Kreykes said.
