The Pleasantville girls and boys basketball teams fell on the road to West Central Conference opponent Van Meter Friday night.

The Trojan girls lost 77-46 in the contest to the Bulldogs. The Pleasantville girls got down early in the game and faced a 30-11 deficit at the end of the first quarter. The Bulldogs offense continued to be effective in scoring the rest of the game to ultimately get the win. Joelle Johnson was the leading scorer for the Trojan girls with 20 points on the night. Despite the loss, Coach Allyson Simpson says her players continue to step up and she hopes they can continue to get different looks.

“We have had a lot of girls step up and show they can shoot the ball from three. That’s something that we’re trying. We’re trying to get those looks inside by putting Joelle and Hope inside to hopefully get those touches inside. Hopefully the defense will collapse so we can get those other girls on the outside some shots.”

The loss drops the Pleasantville girls to 3-3 on the season and 1-2 in the conference. The Pleasantville boys fell to the Bulldogs 79-55 in their contest. The Trojan boys were led in scoring by freshman Braylon Bingham, who had 24 points on the night, and Trent Jolly, who had 16. The loss drops the Pleasantville boys to 1-3 on the season and 0-2 in the conference. Both teams will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Ogden.
