The Indianola boys wrestling team placed 2nd at the Baltzley Invitational at Johnston High School Saturday, scoring 172 team points, while the Indians girls went 1-4 at the Ankeny Centennial Duals.
Top point scorers for the Indians boys included Mac Crosson finishing 2nd at 113lbs, Ryan Young was 3rd at 132lbs, Rylan Hilton 3rd at 126lbs, and Carson Slorah was 3rd at 215lbs. They next wrestle in Waterloo against some of the states best competition at Young Arena on Friday and Saturday.
The Indians girls fell to West Marshall in the opening round 60-23, then fell to Humboldt 66-18, followed by a defeat to Pella 48-24. In the consolation bracket, Woodward Granger defeated Indianola 32-24, then the Indians ended the day with a 36-18 win over Norwalk in the 7th place match. Siera Becker continued to have a stellar season, as she went 3-0 on the day with an additional two wins by forfeit, with two wins by fall and one technical fall. Andrea Taylor at 130lbs, and Summer Wolff at 140lbs also had undefeated days on the mats. They next wrestle on Saturday at ADM High School.
