The Knoxville Wrestlers went 2-1 at a home quad on Saturday. The Panthers suffered their first dual loss of the season in the first match up the day 57-18 to North Polk. Knoxville came back to post dominating wins over Nevada 54-30 and Fairfield 60-21. Kale Kincaid was the only Panther to go 3-0 on the day. His final match against Fairfield, he pinned his opponent in just :17. Two-time winners were Tre DeRaad, Dane Gullion, Hunter Lund, Steven McCreery, Tristan Sinnard, Wayne Johnston, Jayden Montalvo and Regan Roberts. Roberts told KNIA/KRLS Sports after taking a loss in his first match of the day he found something extra to win the next two.

Roberts: “After that first match, I wasn’t feeling the best. But I dug deep and I found the heart of what I wanted to do and that’s why I won.”

Knoxville is now 6-1 in dual meets and will try to improve on that record and make its case for the regular season South Central Conference crown in an SCC Quad with Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, Davis County, and Clarke in Bloomfield on Thursday. Meanwhile the Knoxville Bowling Squads were also in action on Saturday against Newton at Statesmen Lanes in Oskaloosa. The boys fell short 3192-2796, led by Troy Binns with a series of 476 and a high game of 245.  The girls also came up a little short to the Cardinals. Knoxville was led by Brigette Renard with a series of 371 and a high game of 199.
