The Norwalk Community School District has moved forward with plans for a parking lot expansion at Orchard Hills Elementary, which serves third and fourth grade students in the district.
The project will be funded with sales tax, and the estimated cost of the project is $350,000. Norwalk Superintendent Shawn Holloway says that with the growth of the community, additional parking was needed at the elementary school.
“When Orchard Hills was originally built, we only had so much bonding capacity, and so one of the things that had to be put on hold was additional parking. And so, this will provide I believe another 55 to 60 parking spaces for visitors at Orchard hills.”
The project is expected to be completed in the Summer of 2024. Hear more about the project from Shawn Holloway on today’s In Touch with South Central Iowa.
