The Pella Community Food Shelf recently moved into their new location at the site of the old Sports Page restaurant at 1111 West 16th Street.

The 7,000 square foot building features 1,000 square feet of community space, 1,000 square feet of serving space, and 2,000 square feet of storage space. The food shelf renovated the old restaurant space to better accommodate their needs and Executive Director Melissa Zula says that their goal was to create a friendly environment for their patrons.

“We really tried to create an atmosphere that is super friendly in here and it just feels like home. We want it to feel really comfortable to those who come to visit us.”

The Pella Community Food Shelf is still seeking donations with their HopeFULL Movement, to raise their overall goal of $1.5 million to pay for the facility. Zula added that they’ve raised about half of the $1.5 million goal. Find out how to donate to the HopeFULL Movement here.
