The Marion County Board of Supervisors met in a regular and special session on Tuesday.

In their regular morning session, the board approved plans for the new Marion County Maintenance Facility Junction 92 Project and awarded the bid to Brieholz construction out of Des Moines for $5.8 million with an alternate bid of $7,000. The board also approved the disposition of county property at 104 S 6th St in Knoxville, approved the Marion County Continuity of Operation Plan and gave updates on the county’s new system calculating fiscal year 2025 budgets.

In the afternoon special session, there was a presentation given by the Mid-Iowa Planning Alliance to help with reviewing the existing comprehensive land use plan in Marion County. These plans are typically updated every ten years. The comprehensive plan lays out the  goals for the future of the county in terms of land use and zoning and a way to make sure the needs of communities are being met. The Marion County Board of Supervisors will now choose between different plan options and create a plan to replace the current land use guide.
