Off to a 2-5 start to the young season, the Pella Christian girls basketball team is working to cut down on the number of turnovers they are committing.
The Eagles went 1-1 a week ago, defeating Van Meter 46-42 and falling to Norwalk 62-29. In those games, Pella Christian committed 26 and 27 turnovers and are averaging 24.1 turnovers per contest through their first seven games. While he is encouraging the girls to be confident to make plays, Eagles head coach Brendan Foughty says his team needs to take better care of the basketball.
“Everybody that watches can see that we’ve got to have more composure with the basketball. That’s going to be a process for us all year long, but it’s part of our growth process and we’re gonna continue to give confidence to our players and so sometimes that leads to some turnovers.”
The Pella Christian girls will look to clean up the turnovers and grab win number three on the season tomorrow night at Albia in a non-conference game against the Lady Dees at 7:30 pm.
