The Norwalk girls wrestling team and the Indianola and Norwalk boys wrestling squads are competing at the Battle of Waterloo Dual Tournament at Young Arena during the next three days.
The Norwalk girls will compete today starting at 9:00 a.m. The girls tournament starts with three 8-team brackets, then shifts to 3-team pools for the final round based on each team’s place in their seeded bracket. Norwalk’s day will start with a matchup against Waverly-Shell Rock.
The area boys teams will compete on both Friday and Saturday, wrestling three duals each day. On Friday, teams are seeded and placed in one of four 8-team brackets. Friday’s three matches and placing will determine each team’s placement for Saturday’s round robin championship bracket competition.
Indianola is the top seed in the Smith Bracket and will begin the tournament by facing Clear Lake on Friday at 4:00 p.m. Norwalk is seeded fourth in the Tate Family Bracket and will wrestle West Des Moines Valley on Friday at 4:00 p.m. Teams placing in the top four of their bracket on Friday will wrestle on Saturday afternoon. Teams placing in the bottom four of their Friday bracket will resume competition on Saturday morning.
