Drought conditions remained unchanged throughout Marion and Warren Counties in the latest weekly update. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, extreme drought — the third highest on the national scale, is in place for just over 32% of Marion County and just shy of 20% of Warren County. The rest of the region is primarily in severe drought, with the northeastern corner of Marion County still rated at moderate. According to the National Weather Service, chances for rain return to the forecast tonight into Saturday morning, but no significant precipitation is expected with that system.
