Construction on County Road T15 to replace the Flagler bridge begins on Monday, December 18th.
The closure will be between Old Hwy 92 and Lucas Dr., and includes the intersection of 169th Ave. & T15. Flagler traffic shall use 169th to Old Hwy 92 and a signed detour will be in place. The detour may be amended to coordinate with other projects throughout the duration of this closure. The contractor had originally anticipated that the project would begin in November, but Marion County Engineer Tyler Christian said that approval of the demolition plan delayed the project.
“Anytime you deal with the railroad, there are challenges with that, and so the contractor has been working with the railroad to get the demolition plan approved. So, as part of their contract they have to do this railroad coordination during various stages of the project to ensure safety of the rail and that they can maintain train traffic, which they will maintain traffic throughout construction.”
The project is anticipated to take between six and eight months to complete and the road will be completely closed throughout the entire duration.
