Vermeer employees passed out Christmas hams at Helping Hands food pantry on Friday as part of their holiday basket giveaway.

Helping Hands assembles holiday food baskets during Thanksgiving and Christmas time to give to anyone in the community who may be in need. Individuals can come into the food pantry and sign up to receive one of these holiday baskets with no questions asked. At Christmas time, community members receive a ham and all of the fixings to go with it, but this giveaway wouldn’t be possible without all of the volunteers and donations from the community.

On Friday, employees with Vermeer Corporation came out to Helping Hands to pass out the Christmas baskets as part of their community service day. Helping Hands Director Chuck Galeazzi said this is one of the best years they’ve ever had for donations and he is grateful for everyone who has taken part in giving back to the community through the holiday baskets.

“We have gotten a couple of large checks from people that I barely know to help pay for these. They’re going to get a cure 81 ham and it just really stirs up the community so we can really have a Merry Christmas for one and all.”

Helping Hands continues to take donations for their holiday baskets and accepts any variety of food or monetary donations year round.
