The #4 Indianola boys wrestling team took home the team championship at the Battle of Waterloo on Saturday, going 3-0 that included an upset of #2 Bettendorf, while the Warriors finished the day 1-2 in Pool 4 action.
The Indians started off with a win over over #2 Bettendorf 36-32, with wins by fall from Jaxon Boyd at heavyweight, Rylan Hilton at 126lbs, and Elijah Blewitt at 150lbs. Indianola then defeated #11 Linn-Mar 34-26, with Boyd, Sawyer Nelson at 106lbs, and Mac Crosson at 113lbs getting wins by fall, and defeating #1 in class 2A Osage 49-20, with Stoney Wood at 113lbs, Ryan Young at 132lbs, Blewitt, and Isaiah Kellow at 190lbs getting wins by fall.
The Warriors were in the 4th place pool play, and fell to NH/TV in the first round 36-29, then to Independence 34-28. In the final match of the day for the Warriors, they would demolish Wapsie Valley 57-18, getting wins by fall from Asaiah Martinez at 113lbs, Tyler Harper at 120lbs, Kale Wadle at 138lbs, Matthew Handley at 144lbs, Tyler Stanford at 175lbs, Victor Esparza at 190lbs, and Kolton Borcherding-Johnson at heavyweight.
