Wrestlers Place 3rd At Pella
The Knoxville Wrestling Squad finished 3rd at the Bill Van Horn Invitational at Pella on Saturday. The Panthers took home six top three finishes including two champions with Daniel Gorskikh winning the 175 pound weight class and Regan Roberts taking home gold in the 285 pound class. Tristan Sinnard was 2nd at 150 pounds and Kyler Gifford at 106, Tre DeRaad at 113, and Wayne Johnston at 190 pounds took 3rd place. Coach Skylar Spaur tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he is seeing progress with the younger guys and the more experienced wrestlers are all doing what he expected.
Spaur: “Working through some things, and varsity matches are quicker paced than JV or junior high matches. A lot is going to depend on their development and how far they can go this season.”
The Panthers have one more time on the mats before break as they will host a quad with Ballard, Des Moines North and West Marshall on Tuesday.
