A well-rounded effort led the Pella Christian boys basketball team to a dominant 84-46 win over Wilton in there home opener Saturday afternoon, and the game was heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

The Beavers grabbed an early 5-4 lead in the first minute of the game, but it was pretty much all Eagles the rest of the way. Pella Christian ended the first quarter with an 18-9 lead, and after surviving a 9-4 Beavers’ run to start the second quarter, the Eagles took a 38-24 lead into halftime. The second half was all P.C., as they scored 46 points in the final 16 minutes of action to cruise to the 38-point victory. The Eagles had 10 players record points in the win, with four reaching double-figures. Dane Geetings led the way with 20 points, while Tysen De Vries had 13 and Josiah Vos added 10. Returning from an injury that occurred during the football season, Cooper Spronk made his junior season debut in the second half and made five of his six shots to score 11 points. Coming off a two-game losing streak, Geetings said it felt great to return to the win column.

“To be able to come out here and work really hard as a team, and pass the ball so incredibly well, it’s exactly what we need going into Christmas. Next week we got Newton and that’ll be a good game, but man, this is exactly what I thought we needed today.”

Pella Christian improved to 4-2 on the season with the win and they are now off until Thursday when they host Newton in the final game before Christmas Break. Hear more about the Eagles victory from Dane Geetings on Monday’s edition of Today’s Lely Radio Sports Page.
