The City of Pleasantville has announced that they will be reconstructing the Shadle Park pond.

The project is set to commence at the beginning of the year and is slated for completion by May 30th. Funding for this project was made possible through the Water Quality Initiative and a SRF special project grant. The plans indicate various enhancements, including reconstructing the outlet to regulate downstream water flow, deepening specific pond areas to increase water capacity to potentially foster more fish population, and installing a central fountain aimed at reducing surface algae. These improvements will not only enhance the pond’s visual appeal but also improve its ecological balance and overall water quality.

Once the project is complete, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources will begin restocking the pond with a selection of fish.
