Getting six days off in between their last two games before Christmas break, the Pella Christian girls basketball team has been working on breaking bad habits during practice.
The young Eagles squad has struggled early in the season, falling in six of their first eight games this winter. Pella Christian head coach Brendan Foughty said that bad habits have contributed to some of their early season downfalls and added that practice time will be beneficial for the Eagles as they try to correct those habits.
“When you play the game of basketball and you get to game time, you fall on what your habits are and we’ve got some really bad habits. And so, we’re trying to break those in practice and we’re trying to develop good habits. And that’s why it’s so important for us to practice with a game like intensity, because if we’re going to 50% in practice, in game your habit is going to be 50% and it’s gonna be really hard to apply good habits to the game situation. So, we’re gonna keep working and keep pushing on that and practice and I have confidence and faith that we’re going to continue to get better.”
The Pella Christian girls basketball team returns to action on Thursday for their final game before Christmas break, hosting Newton in the front end of a girl-boy doubleheader on Eagle Lane.
