The Norwalk basketball teams are back on their home court tonight, hosting Des Moines Lincoln in non-conference action at the NPECC. The girls game will start at approximately 6:15 p.m., followed by the boys game at about 7:45.
The Norwalk girls are ranked seventh in Class 4A and bring an 8-1 overall record into the contest following Friday’s 58-50 home win over Indianola. The Warriors won last year’s meeting at Lincoln 58-32 as Bailey Birmingham and Braelyn Clark combined for 39 points.
The Railsplitter girls defeated Des Moines North 41-29 in their last game, improving to 3-4 on the season. Leiah Ochoa is Lincoln’s top scorer at 13.7 points per game.
The boys game will match the 5-2 Warriors against the 2-3 Rails. Norwalk is looking to bounce back from a 51-41 loss to defending 4A state champion West Des Moines Valley on Saturday. Lincoln lost to Des Moines North 67-53 on Friday. The Rails are led by a pair of double-digit scorers in Charlie Fry and Damarius Parker, who combine to average nearly 30 points a game. Norwalk won last year’s game at Lincoln 63-55.
