The City of Knoxville agreed to the sale of city property to Habitat for Humanity at their meeting Monday night.
The city council unanimously approved a resolution directing the sale of interest in real property at 314 W Robinson St. to Habitat for Humanity in the amount of $28,000. The condition added on to the approval was that a garage must be included with the home that Habitat for Humanity builds. There is currently a house at this location that will be used by the Knoxville Fire Department for a controlled burn and training this winter. There were three total bids submitted for this property and Knoxville City Manager Heather Ussery says that Habitat’s bid made the most sense.
“The city currently has $20,000 in the property so being able to recoup the cost we have in it is important because we have other properties that will need to go through the same process.”
