The Norwalk basketball teams and boys wrestlers will wrap up the school’s 2023 portion of the winter sports season tonight.

The Warrior wrestling team hosts Centerville and Pella in a double dual starting at 5:30 p.m. inside the NPECC. Norwalk is looking to improve on a 3-0 Little Hawkeye Conference dual record against Pella. The team is 6-5 overall after finishing with a 2-4 record at last weekend’s Battle of Waterloo tournament.

First place in the Little Hawkeye Conference will be on the line at Dallas Center-Grimes High School when Norwalk takes on DC-G in a girl-boy basketball doubleheader starting at 6:15 p.m. Both games will be carried live on 94.3 KNIA and KNIA3, with Mike Oeffner and Kristen Geisler on the call. Pregame coverage begins at approximately 6:00 p.m.

The Class 4A seventh-ranked Norwalk girls enter tonight’s contest at 9-1 overall and 3-0 in the LHC. The top-ranked and defending 4A champion Mustang girls are 8-1 overall and 2-0 in league play following Tuesday’s 85-32 loss at 5A top-ranked Johnston. DC-G swept last year’s season series by scores of 63-37 and 75-40, but this is a much-improved Warrior team that has already exceeded last season’s win total by three games.

The boys game is also expected to be competitive, as is usually the case. Last season, Dallas Center-Grimes won at Norwalk 57-46 in early January. Four weeks later, the Warriors erased a double-digit second half deficit and topped the Mustangs in overtime, 67-64, as part of a 16-game winning streak. Norwalk currently stands 6-2 overall and 3-0 in conference play. DC-G, which lost by four points at Johnston Tuesday night, is 5-1 and 2-0, respectively.
