Pella Regional Health Center announced that Bridget Woodworth in the Medical-Surgical Unit is the recipient of their quarterly DAISY Award. The DAISY program is a national award that is given at the local level to registered nurses who exemplify extraordinary nursing. The focus is on the special touches and human consideration these nurses give to their patients.
Excerpt from Bridget’s nomination:
“My sister had surgery, and Bridget was her nurse on the Medical-Surgical Unit floor while she was a patient. From the moment Bridget entered the room, she genuinely cared about her patients. She was kind, considerate, and listened to my sister while making direct eye contact. She repeated what my sister told her, which displayed a genuine connection between nurse and patient. Bridget had excellent bedside manners. She was kind, spoke clearly, and explained everything in great detail. She is to be commended on her ability to care for her patients and give them her undivided attention while teaching and training other nurses.”
Woodworth received a certificate that reads: “In deep appreciation of all you do, who you are, and the incredibly meaningful difference you make in the lives of so many people.” She was also given a sculpture called A Healer’s Touch, hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe in Africa.
