With their 69-48 win over Newton last Thursday, the Pella Christian boys basketball team improved to 4-0 on the season when holding their opponent under 50 points.

In addition to holding the opposing team under that mark in those four wins, the Eagles have also limited those teams to making less than 40% of their shots. The two most recent wins for Pella Christian, saw them hold Newton to 48 points on 36.1% shooting from the field and Wilton to just 46 points on 33.3% shooting from the floor. Eagles head coach JD Boer credited assistant coaches Marv Van Wyk, Dan Branderhorst, and Zach Vander Linden for coming up with creative ways to help the team improve defensively.

“We have great assistant coaches on staff that just keep coming up with different ways, different things that we can improve on defensively. So those guys, we’ve got Dan, Marv, and Zach, who continue to do a great job of pushing these guys and getting us in different spots, and I thought we showed some improvement in that area.”

With their win over Newton, the Pella Christian boys improved to 5-2 overall on the season and 2-1 in the Little Hawkeye Conference.
