Pella Christian Schools are in the process of integrating their boards at the grade school and high school into one legal entity.
The two school boards have scheduled society votes that will take place on Tuesday, February 27th, 2024. To merge the school boards, a 2/3rds majority of each society will need to vote yes for the integration. Head of Schools Dan Zylstra, who was hired in part to bring the two schools together, says that society members are a collective group of parents and financial supporters of the schools. Zylstra says that there are a lot of ways in which individuals can be society members, and encourages those with questions about the process to contact the school.
“Some folks would be members of the high school society, but not the grade school. Some folks would be members of the grade school society, but not the high school. And then some would be members of both and it’s a little complicated and it’s one of those things that has existed in history. But I think there’s more people that may be qualified to vote and they’re just not aware of how that works. So, I really encourage you to call into the school and check.”
Society members at Pella Christian Grade School will vote at the grade school, while members at Pella Christian High School will vote at the high school. Society members at both schools will need to vote two times, once in each place for both societies.
