In a program where team is emphasized and the focus, a new star is starting to emerge for the green and white at Pella High School. Through eight games, Jack McGuire is averaging 14.1 points and eight rebounds per contest, wowing crowds with tough shots in the lane and a strong ability to get to the rim for extra rebounds.

Head Coach Derek Schulte knows that Jack still has areas to improve, but acknowledges the sophomore will likely be critical to any success they can have over the 2024 portion of their campaign.

“He’s doing a great job of creating and finishing at the rim, he’s rebounding at both ends of the floor and can initiate our fastbreak, and those are huge things,” he says. “You can see his confidence growing and he finished the calendar year of 2023, really, really strong.”

McGuire is one of three Dutch players (Brayden Traetow, Cameron Rowe) to have started all eight games for the 5-3 team that currently sports the 5th best scoring offense in Class 3A at 69.8 points per game. The Dutch hope to keep their four game winning streak alive against #8 in 2A Pella Christian when they return to action on January 5th at Pella High School.
