The Indianola City Council held a special session Thursday, holding the public hearing on the South K Street Project Assessment. The council approved the preliminary assessment for homeowners who will benefit from the construction, with the total assessable cost of $529,720 of a $2.6 million project. If bids are favorable on the project or the project is lower than estimated, assessment costs will go down, but cannot exceed the maximum amount set Thursday.
A further public hearing will take place on the final project details.
The council also recognized the service of outgoing council members John Parker and Gwen Schroder. After the meeting, a quorum of Indianola City Council Members was present at a social gathering at the Indianola Wellness Campus, however no voting or discussion of official city business took place.
