The Norwalk girls and boys bowling teams have identical dual records as they wait out a three-week break between meets. Both squads stand 2-3 overall and 1-2 in the Little Hawkeye Conference, showing steady improvement during the early portion of the season.
The Warrior girls posted their highest team total in their most recent meet on December 16, knocking down 2,129 total pins in a win over Pella at Newton’s Cardinal Lanes. The Warrior boys also bowled their best against the Dutch, posting a season-high score of 2,740.
Ellery Racz leads the Norwalk girls with 1,454 total pins on the year and a high game of 198. Julia Palen, who qualified for state last season, boasts the team’s high two-game series with a 349 and leads the way with an average of 166.7. Bridget Curran and Elivia Stout both have more than 1,030 total pins to their credit going into the new year.
The Norwalk boys are paced by a balanced group of four at the top of their scoring ledger. Andrew Winfrey leads the way with a 185 average, followed by Tanner Housley with a 183.3, Brytan Bassman 172.1 and Gavin Housley 171.6. The Housley boys, along with Winfrey, each have a high game of at least 224 to their credit. Winfrey has the high two-game series of 448, followed by Tanner Housley’s 437.
The Warrior bowlers return to action on Saturday, January 6, facing Bondurant-Farrar at Air Lanes Bowling Center in Des Moines at 9:00 a.m.
