pella-city-council-2023

After the City of Knoxville had their redistribution request for Local Option Sales Tax extended by the Marion County Board of Supervisors, and the board indicated their unwillingness to go with a 20-year proposal from the City of Pella, the new Pella City Council will consider their options moving forward at their meeting Tuesday.

The council will hold a policy and planning session to discuss how to ensure the community can maintain a unique partnership with Marion County for additional revenue. City Administrator Mike Nardini presented to the board about a twenty year proposal that aligns with the extension approved by Pella voters in September 2022. After the Board of Supervisors ultimately rejected that proposal, the Pella City Council will consider a few shorter term options that could either mirror the City of Knoxville’s five-year extension or a two-to-three year offer that would also include room for both parties to negotiate further about changes.

Tuesday’s Pella City Council meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the Pella Public Safety Complex.
