The Knoxville Boys Basketball Squad got a huge win over Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont on Tuesday to force a three way tie for 1st place in the South Central Conference by beating the Rockets 75-72…the girls never led in a 72-49 defeat to the class 2A #7 Rockets live on 95.3 KNIA. In the boys game, neither team led by double figures as both jumped out to hot starts with Knoxville leading at the 1st quarter break 20-16. Scoring slowed significantly in the 2nd quarter with the Rockets taking a 30-28 lead at halftime. Knoxville would take the lead and was on top for most of the 3rd quarter, but the Rockets would shut out Knoxville’s Landen Norris in the 4th, but Drake Larson and Carson Uitermarkt combined for 17 of Knoxville’s 28 4th quarter to nail down the win.
Landen Norris led the Panthers with 20 points told KNIA/KRLS Sports getting a win in Eddyville’s gym felt good and they are right where they want to be in the conference standings.
Norris: “It feels really good beating them at their place. We were spending the whole break preparing for them, and it just felt really good beating them in their gym.”
Lincoln Norris completed the double figure parade with 19 points. The girls were never in the game and fell behind by as many as 28. Knoxville was led by Hannah Dunkin’s 17 points, Brittany Bacorn with 14 and Abbie Keitges scored ten. Knoxville boys are 6-2 and 5-1 in the South Central Conference while the girls are 4-5 and 4-2 in the conference. Both Knoxville squads return home to play Albia on Friday.
