Prior to roaming the sidelines and trying to find stability in a program seeking a rebuild, Eagles Head Coach Brendan Foughty was wearing the colors of his now crosstown rival. When the Tulip City basketball teams clash, Foughty returns to the school where he taught and coached basketball for multiple years. Foughty says he has great memories of his time with the Pella School District and has a close friendship with the man he’ll be coaching against this week, Blaine Forsythe.

“I have a ton of respect for Pella and a ton of respect for Coach Forsythe,” he says. “Blaine is a guy that when my wife and I moved to town, he was the first one to welcome me to town and when my son Jude was born, he actually watched my daughter Hadley when we were in the hospital. I have a ton of respect for everyone over at Pella and especially Coach Forsythe, and I look forward to competing against him.”

Forsythe has commended the work Foughty has done to try and rejuvenate girls basketball on Eagle Lane, and hopes this is just the start of the rivalry on the sidelines between the two friends.

Coverage of the Pella/PC showdown begins at 5:45 Friday on 92.1 KRLS and Pella Dutch Live.
