Drought remains largely unchanged in the latest weekly national report.

Most of Marion County and all of Warren County, as well as the majority of surrounding communities are considered in extreme drought, the second worst on the scale of the U.S. Drought Monitor Report. Despite widespread rainfall across central Iowa over Christmas, state climatologist Justin Glisan says it was far from enough to significantly improve what has been months of precipitation shortfalls.

A system may bring light-to-moderate snowfall across portions of the state late Monday night, according to the National Weather Service.
