The Tulip City basketball showdown kicks off the new year at Pella High School this evening. The Dutch and Eagles boys and girls are set for their first of two matchups of the winter season.

Pella’s girls are ranked 14th in Class 4A at 8-2 overall, and aim to keep a six-game winning streak going against a 3-6 Eagles team aiming to play spoiler in the opener.

The Dutch boys (5-3 overall) welcome the 5-2 and #8 in 2A Eagles for matchup that has conference championship race implications and could be a big momentum boost for either squad heading into a tough portion of their schedules.
