The Norwalk basketball teams’ long break from competition will reach at least three weeks after tonight’s games at Newton were postponed due to the winter storm. Both schools canceled their Tuesday classes on Monday night and announced this morning that tonight’s games would also be called off. No make-up date has been announced as of 10:00 a.m.
The Norwalk squads last played on December 21 at Dallas Center-Grimes. The girls lost to the top-ranked Mustangs 55-20 after being outscored 27-2 in the fourth quarter. The Warrior boys outlasted DC-G 55-52.
The Norwalk girls are ranked eighth in the latest Class 4A state rankings, standing 9-2 overall and 3-1 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. The Norwalk boys (7-2 overall) enter the week leading the Little Hawkeye with a 4-0 record.
The Warriors are scheduled to host Oskaloosa for a girl-boy doubleheader on Friday night starting at 6:15.
