The Marion County Roads Department is continuing their efforts to clear area roadways following Monday and Tuesday’s snowfall.
Marion County Engineer Tyler Christian says that several gravel roads throughout the county have not been tended to yet and should not be traveled on.
“There are roads that are drifting completely shut and that are impassable. And if they haven’t been plowed, they’re very difficult to travel on even with a four-wheel driver pick up. There’s anywhere from a foot to three feet of snow that could be covering a road for half a mile or a mile at a time. And those are difficult to travel on and often there’s just one set of wheel tracks through them if anything, so if you see that now that visibility is better today, don’t travel down those roads. ”
Christian also says that crews are doing their best to clear those roadways as soon as possible.
