The Pleasantville boys wrestling team went 2-0 at a home West Central Conference triangular on Thursday night.
The Trojans defeated Interstate 35 46-27 and Ogden 51-25 to pick up two big conference wins. Carson Ammons, Tommy Booth, Blake Rowson, Caleb Cook, Zane Mullenix, and Carter Metcalf all went 2-0 on the night for the Trojans. Pleasantville wrestling Coach Heath DeForest was proud of how his team competed.
“We knew it would be a brawl. We knew it would be a fight. You’re talking about two ranked teams. We knew it was going to be a dog fight and we knew it was going to be a grind. We needed every match and every point we could get and that’s what our kids did. Some of the matches really came down to the wire. I’m very proud of our guys. I’m proud of the way they showed up and I’m proud of the way our community showed up. It is pretty exciting to see that type of crowd here for our kids. They deserve it.”
The West Central Conference meet scheduled to take place on Saturday in Woodward-Granger has been postponed due to weather, and a make-up date is pending.
