A warm start to winter has changed to a busy week for snow across the area, which will soon be followed up by extreme cold — and this will have an impact on children being in school through the middle of this week.

Superintendent Greg Ebeling says on this current academic calendar, no make-up days were built into the middle of the planned 174 days or 1090 hours of instructional time. He says typically anytime the district has a full cancellation, that day is made up — and in the case of the ongoing school year, to the end of May.

Ebeling says they don’t usually do the same as it relates to delays and early dismissals, so long as the district hits the minimum standard for instructional hours. So far, May 24th, 28th, and 29th have been added, and the extreme wind chill this week will likely cause more disruptions as it relates to school.
