The Indianola girls basketball team stopped a six-game losing streak with a win Monday night over Pella Christian, and with the heart of conference play coming over the next several weeks the team is looking to learn the lessons from the difficult contests and apply them to the court. Junior guard Zoey Belt tells KNIA Sports that while the result of the tough streak didn’t go their way, they know what it takes to play at the top level of the state.

“One of our sayings this year is handle hard better. I think we did that throughout the games against DCG and Johnston, handling hard better and executing the night. Pella Christian brought pressure, and that really helps when your whole team wants it. Everybody had the same mindset to handle the ball and go out there and finish at the end of the game.”

The Indians next try for the season sweep over Newton on the road Friday.
