The Knoxville Athletic Hall of Fame Inductions will take place Friday January 26th. The public is invited to the luncheon that will take place on the 2nd floor of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame at noon. To attend, you need a ticket by calling Hall of Fame Committee Member Joe Cunningham at 828-6173 and the tickets cost $20. Later that evening, the inductees will be honored in between the games between Knoxville and Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont. Cunningham tells KNIA/KRLS Sports they try to make it a big deal for those going into the hall of fame.
Cunningham: “We do everything we can to feel honored. The lights go out and the spotlights go on, and they’re in the spotlight. We appreciate Knoxville Schools for working with us on this event, and it’s just going to be a special occasion.”
Going into the hall of fame will be the 1981 Volleyball Squad, Bob “Tubby” Vanderlinden from the class of 1947, Bill Awtry from the class of 1976, and Scott Hoch from the class of 1997. 95.3 KNIA will provide coverage of the basketball games and the induction ceremony between games.
