The Pella City Council received updated bids that show an overall increase in costs related to proposed renovations at the Pella Community Center during policy and planning at their meeting Tuesday.
Project engineer Schemmer showed the base estimate for renovations to the facility would likely cost $6.37 million, which would also remove a portion of the proposal that would add stairs and an elevator. Some of the main infrastructure upgrades are increased by nearly 30 percent from a 2020 estimate made by a different firm. The Pella City Council initially has committed $5.5 million to the project, with the Friends of the Pella Community Center fundraising the rest, and aiming to go beyond the base bid scope of the proposal.
