The Pleasantville Fire Department has released additional details about the ceiling collapse that occurred at Accura HealthCare of Pleasantville on Thursday.
Just before 3:45 am Thursday morning, Pleasantville Emergency Services and the Pleasantville Police Department were dispatched to Accura Care Center for a fire alarm that had been activated. Pleasantville Police arrived on scene and were advised that a sprinkler line had broken above the ceiling and it had caused the ceiling to start collapsing. Pleasantville Emergency Services requested additional resources from the Knoxville Fire Department and contacted Marion County Emergency Management at that time. Pleasantville Emergency Services shut off the water to the building to stop the sprinkler flow, but the extent of the damage and water throughout the facility led to all 47 residents being relocated from the facility to other Accura HealthCare Centers. Fire and police officials worked with Accura staff to coordinate the relocation effort and Pleasantville Community Schools supplied a bus to move residents.
Responding agencies included the Pleasantville Police Department, Knoxville Fire and Rescue, Marion County Sheriff’s Department and Dispatchers, Marion County Emergency Management and Pleasantville Community Schools.
