Several emergency crews responded to an early morning fire in Bussey Friday. A press release indicates first responders were dispatched at 4:55 a.m. to 703 3rd St for a fully engulfed house. Mutual aid from Indiana township was requested from Bussey Fire and Rescue, who sent two engines and one ambulance with six personnel. Upon arriving on scene, firefighters found the upstairs story of structure fully engulfed and residents exiting the front door. A defensive attack with help from mutual aid departments was able to knock fire down, but contents of home made extinguishment difficult. Knoxville Fire was requested for an engine and four personnel. The cause of fire is still under investigation and the scene was cleared just before 2 p.m. Indiana Township Fire Department, Knoxville Fire and Rescue, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and Marion County Emergency Management Agency assisted on scene.
