Multiple changes were made to the Annett Nature Center and Warren County Conservation over the last several years, including an update of the educational exhibits and programs for kids. Environmental Education Coordinator Kelsey Longnecker tells KNIA News both the annual and newer programs run over the last year had a lot of success. Longnecker said a big accomplishment this year was a grant through American Rescue Plan Act funds.

“We were fortunate enough to receive a Federal Recreational Trails Grant, and so we were able to pave 1.8 miles of the Great Western Trail for $752,000. We do have plans to eventually pave the rest of the Warren County portion of it, however the budget for that is $3.6 million, so that is something that will take some plans and fundraising for.”
