The Knoxville Basketball Squads needed get right games against Cardinal on Monday night, and the Panthers delivered with easy wins heard live on 95.3 KNIA. The girls roared out to a 29-4 1st quarter lead and cruised to a 58-30 win while the boys did not allow the Comets into double digits until the third quarter in an 80-21 rout. The girls were in command the entire game and with Brittany Bacorn returning to the line up used that to dominate on the boards and created turnovers into points. Bacorn led the Panthers with 19 points and Hannah Dunkin scored 15 points. The boys may have had their easiest win of the season jumping out to a 28-2 lead after one quarter and 50-9 at halftime. With the running clock in the 2nd half, the Panthers cruised to a 59 point win. Coach Troy Pearson told KNIA/KRLS Sports it was good to see his team return to playing well and sharing the ball.
Pearson: “I thought they went out and did a lot of good things early on. They shared the ball and got quality looks and when you get quality looks they usually go in.”
Jay Kellar led a balanced attack with 14 points, Connor Willis had 13 and Gabe Clark put in 12 points. Knoxville girls are 7-7 on the season and 7-3 in the South Central Conference while the boys are 8-5 and 7-3 in the conference.
