The Knoxville Community School District has provided a publication for the general public to view what the district uses for AEA services.

Area Education Agencies throughout the state have been fighting to make their voices heard over the last month as recent legislation proposed by Governor Kim Reynolds would reduce and alter services across the state. Iowa’s AEAs provide many programs and services for children, families, schools, and communities, all of which fall under nine state-required standards for service. School-community planning calls for AEAs to assist schools in determining student needs, developing collaborative community relationships, establishing shared direction, implementing actions to meet goals, and reporting progress toward goals. KCSD Superintendent Cassi Pearson hopes that informed decisions are being made when it comes to AEA legislation at the state house.

“This really just outlines what we’ve used, and people can see the numbers as a breakdown and I think it’s helpful. As the AEA conversation continues at the state house, we just hope that people have actual facts, and are making decisions based on what school districts are truly using to know that we’re going to need to have opportunities to replace those services if the AEA’s aren’t available or the money to replace those services. If we don’t, our students aren’t being served like they’re currently being served.”
