Just over a week after their first matchup of the season, the Indianola and Pella basketball teams match up tonight for a Little Hawkeye Conference doubleheader.
The Pella girls got the better of Indianola in the first matchup despite a back and forth first half. The Dutch jumped out to a 10-0 lead, only to see Indianola go on a 27-18 run to trail only by one point at halftime, and took a brief lead in the third quarter before turnovers put Pella up for good as they would win 60-47. Indianola turned the ball over 26 times in the contest, and Pella earned 19 offensive rebounds.
In the boys game, Indianola jumped out to an early 8-2 lead, but that would quickly go away and Pella outscored the Indians 20-7 in the second quarter and pulled away as they shot 50% for the game. Head coach Jeff Ebling said after the game the younger guys are getting more and more confident, but they will have to execute better on offense if they want to keep up against teams that can score like the Dutch.
The games will be broadcast live on 94.3 KNIA, with Andrew Swadner and Phil Hemming on the call. Pregame coverage begins at 5:45, with tip-off at 6:15pm.
