The Knoxville Basketball Squads both games by double figures on Tuesday as the girls controlled the game from the start to post a 56-40 win over Centerville and the boys blew out the Big Reds in the 2nd half 70-38. The girls played different defenses and got good shooting from the outside Brittany Bacorn and Hannah Dunkin combined for 43 of Knoxville’s points with Bacorn leading with 23 points. Coach Matt Ritchhart told KNIA/KRLS Sports he was happy with the win and liked what he saw from the different sets.
Ritchhart: “we were moving the ball well and I told Brittany if Howard is sagging off of you take the three and to her credit she did. We were doing different sets and just getting ready for next Wednesday.
In the boys game, the Panthers and Centerville were close after the 1st quarter but Knoxville gradually pulled away to post a nine point lead at halftime and then ran away from Centerville in the 3rd quarter outscoring the Big Reds 30-9 and only allowing 13 second half points. Landen Norris scored 25 points to lead the Panthers. The girls are 10-9 on the season and will travel to Chariton today for a make-up game at 4:00, while the boys will host Bondurant-Farrar on Thursday.
