The Pella City Council approved a resolution about extending the local option sales and services tax (LOSST) revenue allocation agreement with Marion County during their meeting Tuesday.

In 2011, the council approved an agreement with the City of Knoxville and Marion County in which the county allocated 8% of countywide LOSST revenue to Pella and 4% to Knoxville. The City of Pella received approximately $440,000 annually from this agreement. Tuesday’s resolution contains the same financial terms as the previous agreement but the term of the proposed agreement is from January 1st, 2024 through December 31st, 2025. The Marion County Board of Supervisors are scheduled to formally consider this agreement on February 13th.

The council also received a petition to create a foot path between Bos Ridge and Bos Landen and a request from Habitat for Humanity of Marion County for use of low and moderate-income funds.

During policy and planning, the council also discussed the process for the solid waster service contract, proceeding with allowing microbreweries in the Central Business District, and a potential development agreement with Pella Retail Management Group at 1808 Washington Street.
