Pella Brazilian Jiu Jitsu attended their 11th competition on February 3rd after opening their doors in the fall of 2021. 

Four hundred athletes from across the Midwest participated at the contest in Des Moines, which was the largest Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competition ever held in Iowa. The athletes from Pella Brazilian Jiu Jitsu won 5th place overall among the teams in attendance. In the kids divisions, Gabriel Zimmerman took 1st place and won a gold medal among white belts ages 10-12 under 125 lbs., while Amilia Zimmerman finished in fifth place among white belts ages 7-9 under 55 lbs. In the adult competitions, Matt Struecker won both of his divisions to bring home two Gold medals in the master division for blue belts under 189 lbs. Additionally, Henry Olson took the silver medal among blue belts under 210 lbs., Tyler Wadle placed 4th among blue belts under 162 lbs., and Devin Dilley placed 5th among white belts under 189 lbs.

Pella Brazilian Jiu Jitsu will now prepare for their next competition in June.
