The demolition of the former Knoxville Middle School building continues to see progress.

The demolition project officially started on Monday, January 8th. In the middle of December, the Knoxville School board board awarded the project to Midwest Demolition Contractors for $329,000. The goal for the KCSD and the City of Knoxville is to continue collaborating on an agreement that would make the site the home  for a new Public Safety/City Hall facility. KCSD Business Manager Craig Mobley says they are making great progress on the demolition.

“They will be recycling 85-90% of that building by the end of that project which is great. They’re making good progress and you will probably see a lot more progress happening over the next month.”

The contract for the demolition states that the project will be complete by April 1st.
