The Simpson College men’s track and field team remained in the USTFCCCA National Rankings for the third straight week.
The Storm checked in at 22nd, being nationally ranked in four events. In total, the Storm earned 37.58 points and are one of four American Rivers Conference programs in the poll.
Spencer Moon contributed 19.85 points to the Storm’s total, as he currently ranks second in the 3,000 meters after breaking the school and conference record last month with a time of 8:04.91.
Max Cleveland’s school-record time of 8.00 in the 60 meter hurdles set in December ranked him fourth in the country, collecting 15.80 points for Simpson.
Ulysses Patterson also broke a school record, scoring 4,835 points in the heptathlon to be ranked 15th in the country. Cleveland was joined by teammates Blake DePhillips, Joseph Sams, and Brenden Godbout in the 4×400 meter relay, with the quartet running a time of 3:22.84 which is 20th in the country.
Most of the roster will compete at Grinnell on Saturday, but a few athletes will make the trek to Boston for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
